Rigging System for Scenery |
|
(Fukuyama Fine Arts Culture Hall,
Main Hall, above-stage) |
Rigging System for scenery basically consists of devices used to raise and lower props and scenery. A variety of Rigging System exists, such as "scenery battens," which span from stage left to stage right, and "point hoists," which support a single prop using a single line. Nowadays, Rigging System is usually computer controlled. |

| Scenery Battens |

|
Scenery battens are used to raise and lower backgrounds, backdrops (backgrounds with images of scenery or buildings, etc.), prop curtains, and signs, etc. As many scenery battens as possible are generally installed, from the farthest point up-stage to the farthest point down-stage. |
| Grid |
 |
The grid (or gridiron) is where the drives, pulleys and other parts of the flying mechanisms are housed. The grid is usually located high above the stage floor, at least 2.2 times higher than the proscenium (the on-stage frame separating the stage from the audience). |
| Locking Rail |
 |
The locking rail is the piece of equipment installed on the wall of a stage wing, where the pull ropes and counterweights for Rigging System are gathered together. |
